Approved by the FDA in 2006,[1] Juvederm is a clinically tested, non-invasive injectable filler that works toquickly plump sagging skin and smooth out wrinkles, thereby rejuvenating the face’s appearance. Juvederm contains hyaluronic acid, a powerful natural moisturizer already existing in the skin. When injected, this natural element works to volumize age-depleted areas and give the face a youthful, radiant shine that lasts far longer than many other dermal fillers.

Look The Way You Feel
When we age, similar to most anything in life, our skin starts to show signs of being worn and weary. No place is aging more evident than the wrinkles and creases lining our faces. From a line across the ridge of the brow to crow’s feet branching out at the corners of our eyes. These lines show age like the rings at the center of a sturdy oak. It may be disheartening to some who look in the mirror and see these lines and think well, I still feel young! Why do I look so old?
For you, these wrinkles may come quicker in life than you’d like. Whether from stress brought on by years at that demanding job, long days under the grueling sun, or the joy of raising a houseful of kids, stress and age trickle down our faces, depositing lines and wrinkles as they go.
But this doesn’t have to be the way you see yourself everyday. There’s a solution that can untangle those wrinkled areas and showcase a younger, more lively you. Dr. Herve F. Gentile’s expert approach to injectable fillers such as Juvederm offers your one stop solution for winding back the clock to a more brilliant, dazzling you!
If you feel that this is a great solution for you, please feel free to contact us to schedule your initial consultation with Dr. Herve F. Gentile in Corpus Christi, Texas at (361) 881-9999.
Juvederm vs. Botox
While Botox has become a household name since first being FDA approved in 1989,[2] fewer people may have heard of Juvederm. Although approved by the FDA almost twenty years after Botox, Juvederm has quickly risen to the top as an anti-aging injectable for many plastic surgery offices around the world. Juvederm is made up of the naturally occurring element, hyaluronic acid, that when injected works to smooth out wrinkles and fill in the sunken areas on the face.
Botox is made up of a very different element called botulinum toxin A. When injected this element works to relax the muscles, thereby reducing and preventing wrinkles such as lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) and wrinkles across the forehead. Botox has also been utilized to help alleviate symptoms of hyperhidrosis in the hand and underarms as well as to treat migraines. These two injectables may seem similar, but Juvederm’s unique qualities make it especially well suited for restoring lost volume in the face.
Lidocaine
However, there is an element in Juvederm that doesn’t exist in Botox – an element that may be paramount to some clients. Mixed in with the naturally occurring elements of Juvederm is lidocaine – the synthetic used to treat pain and discomfort. This combination is revolutionary in that it helps the patient receive the injection while curbing most of the pain receptors from activating, thus making the procedure smoother and less painful.[3]
Longer Lasting Look
Depending on the time frame you want your results to last, the two injectables promote a younger, livelier appearance with varying degrees of permanence. Botox results last up to 3 – 6 months which may be the perfect span of time for some whereas Juvederm results can last up to a year.
Results Right Away
After injection, the results from Botox take roughly 1-2 weeks to show full effect. However, after a Juvederm injection, the results can be seen almost immediately. The rapid onset of results is brought about by Juvederm’s gel formula. This helps the compound to take effect right away, plumping out the wrinkles in no time.

We strive to give you world class service here in Corpus Christi, Texas. That’s why when you schedule a consultation with us we put your satisfaction and safety first. We recognize that you’ve come to us seeking solutions and we will hear everything you have to say regarding your own personal aesthetic goals. Dr. Gentile will go over your medical and surgical history as well as any medications you may be currently taking. If you are pregnant, allergic to hyaluronic acid, or allergic to lidocaine, then Juvederm is not the treatment route we will take. Then, Dr. Gentile will discuss what steps he recommends to achieve your desired results. Finally, you will schedule a date for the treatment and be given a detailed list of steps to help prepare you for a smooth and successful day.
Preparation
It is important to follow the outline given to you at your consultation as it may have personalized steps that you need to take before your Juvederm injection. During this time between the two sessions it is important to:
- Avoid blood thinning medications like ibuprofen and aspirin as these substances can increase bleeding when a needle is injected and they also slow the body’s natural healing abilities.
- Avoid nicotine and alcohol. Nicotine and alcohol can hinder the body’s natural healing abilities.
- 2 days before avoid certain skin treatments like hair removal cream, retinol, waxing, bleaching, and plucking as they can irritate the area before your session.
Procedure
On the day of your procedure, you will be in and out of our offices in no time. Once you get checked in and seated the actual procedure takes no mor than 10 minutes. Soon, you will see the radiant, dazzling effects of Juvederm as the dermal filler evens out the contours on your face and relieves the wrinkles that used to be etched deep into your cheeks.
Recovery
There is no need to schedule a ride home as the procedure does not require any anesthesia. You are free to go about your day, back to work, back to life and looking positively glowing. It is recommended to avoid strenuous activities for the first few days. Also avoid alcohol, extreme heat (tanning beds, saunas), and rigorous exercise for the first 24-48 hours.
Results
The results from Juvederm can be seen almost instantly and then continue to blossom as weeks pass. These results should be expected to last 1-2 years. Whether used to plump the lips or to smooth out the lines between the eyebrows, you will see a difference from the moment you walk out of our office. Your skin may shine and glow. Places where your wrinkles used to create shadows are now evened out and less textured. You can now smile as your true self. You have always felt young and now you look like it! With a livelier smile and face, you can go out and tackle the day with a new wave of self-confidence. No more worrying about your worry lines. Go out and take the day head on!

Laser Hair Removal
Another non-invasive cosmetic procedure is laser hair removal. By focusing a single wavelength laser onto an area of hair follicles, the laser burns away the hair follicles, leaving behind smooth-to-the-touch skin. This method, after a few sessions, can provide permanent hair removal to areas such as the upper lip, underarms, pelvic region, and legs.
